Storm Tri-Sail

Just picked up a storm try-sail from Bacon's. I have to change out the nylon slides and clips with stainless and put a stop on the mast track. Otherwise it is looking good. A bit of staining at the grommets and I will have to replace the sheets (I don't think they are dynamine or spectra). Still have lots of parts to get before we are ready for the ocean.
I've cut off the doggie netting and dismounted the old life raft. The new life raft should be here in the next few days. I'll have to have some steel work done to mate the new cradle to the old mount points, but that shouldn't be that bad.

Sock burning for spring

On Friday, the Eastportoricans had a private sock burning. Sock burning has become a really big event and all the local clubs are using it to raise money and have lots of folks come in an pay to burn their socks and drink beer. So the real Eastortoricans have a private sock burning with 20 or so local folks that show up and have good conversation and a beer or two… then we burn our socks the day before the big commercial event. It is much better this way - more a celebration of spring than a fund raisers! Yeh Eastport!
The big commercial event cause me trouble as I live at the end of the street and this year I had to prove I lived there to get my car back to the marina with my groceries and hardware. Hunkered down until the madness ends…. Not much different than Eastport-a-rockin.

The water is back on

Yeh, this is definitely the end of winter… The marina turned the water back on… So I've given up my 300ft of hose to the local manager. The trunk of may car is now open for other storage :)
Just re-configured the starting relay for then engine. then started and ran the engine for a few minutes. Then drained the oil, change the filter and refilled the oil. Thursday, I'll restart the engine, let it run for a few, then check and top off the fluids.

My last winter is over

To officially celebrate, I gave away my snow shovel!!! It is symbolic, but all the same, next time I'm cold it will be because I choose to sail that direction. On Wednesday, when they turn the water back on at the docks, I'll give away the 300ft of hose I have in the trunk of my car!!!
I schedule to have the mast pulled and the rigging replace in the next few week. So I should have a new set of rigging installed some time in April.

Code 0 on order

Today the boat was measured for a top-down furler and a Code-0 sail. It should be in my early May. The estimated cost from 6 years ago made by Jupiter was no on the mark. This sail and furler will cost a few boat dollars more than estimated. All the same, it is needed since I dumped the Asym cause it was too difficult to handle as a single-handed sailor.
